Christian Universalism

U–niversal is a translation of the Latin word, “catholic”—the same word in both The Apostles’ Creed and The Nicene Creed. Christians around the world, every Sunday for over 1,500 years, have been affirming their faith, “I believe in….the holy catholic Church.”  Does not the universal church have universal salvation?

N–ew life in Christ (Mt. 5:13-16; Jn. 3:3, 7; II Cor. 5:17-21; Rom. 7:15-25; 8:1, 6, 31-39; Eph. 4:20-32; I Jn. 1:5).

I-mpossibilities for God:  God cannot violate His own nature; God cannot abuse power—make “might right” (Zech. 4:6); God cannot be unjust (Gen. 18:25); and God cannot lie (Heb. 6:18).

V–ictory of God—who sees the end from the beginning—over death, sin, hell, and the Devil, will be total and eternal (Mt. 16:18; I Cor. 15:54-57; Rev. 5:13).

E-ternal punishment (belief in) is not THE LITMUS TEST to determine who is and who is not a Christian (Mt. 10:32; Rom. 10:9, 13;  I Jn. 5:1, 11-13).

R-econciliation (Col. 1:15-20) and restoration (Acts 3:19-21) of all things in Christ.

S- alvation by grace (Eph. 2:8, 9;  Tit. 2:11;  3:5-7) in submission to God (Heb. 12:9).

A–ll in all—God’s goal (I Cor. 15:20-28; Jn. 1:29; 4:24; I Jn. 3:8):  loving, merciful, just (Ps. 33:5; 86:15; Jon. 3:10; 4:1, 2; Jn. 4:24; II Pet. 3:9; I Jn. 4:8, 18).

L-ove, unconditional and everlasting, of God in the universal effectual atonement (Ps. 136; Jer. 31:3; Jn. 3:16, 17;  Rom. 5:10-21;  I Jn. 2:2;  4:14; I Tim. 2:3-6;  4:10).

I- rresistible grace (Isa. 45:17, 20-25; 66:23; Phil. 2:9-11) for all, but all those who are impenitent and unbelieving indefinitely resist (Mt. 12:31, 32; 21:33-46;  Mk. 3:28-30; 8:35-37; Lk. 12:19, 20;) God’s saving grace which ultimately proves to be irresistible with no one’s free will ever being coerced or violated.

S-alt of fire (Ex. 3:2; Isa. 66:24;  Mal. 3:3;  Mt. 3:11; 25:41, 46;  Mk. 9:43-49; Lk. 16:19-31; Rom. 12:20; I Cor. 3:10-15; Heb. 12:29; I Pet. 4:12) and burning sulfur (Isa. 30:33b; Rev. 20:10-15; 21:8).

M-essiah (Greek:  “Christ”) of Israel who is the Savior of the world (Ps. 22:27; Isa. 7:14;  9:6-7; 11:6-9; 53:1-12; ; Jer. 31:31-34; Dan. 9:26; Jn. 4:25, 26, 42; Rom. 3:28-31; 4:1, 16; 11:25-27, 32).
